High-Tech Art Experiences
The founders of a new museum in the college town of Manhattan, Kansas, have designed a space where art enthusiasts, technology aficionados and families can explore contemporary art in new ways. The Museum of Art + Light (MoA+L), scheduled to open November 8, has nearly 55,000 square feet dedicated to showcasing the intersection of technology, immersive experiences and fine art along with another 45,000 square feet for a maker space, restaurant, gift shop and classrooms.
Mezmereyz, the immersive gallery, will debut with its original Renoir: A Luminous Evolution, a 45-minute animated installation centered on the life and works of Impressionist painter Pierre-Auguste Renoir. De Coded is MoA+L’s digital art wing and will open with work from five leading digital artists. In the Fine Artwork Gallery, see Lasting Impressions: Shaping a Personal Collection, a selection from the founders’ collections of works by artists worldwide from the 19th century to today.
